Scott Dismuke - Director of Government Relations
Scott Dismuke serves as Director of Government Relations for AkinsCrisp Public Strategies and works out of the firm's Nashville office.
Scott rejoined AkinsCrisp in 2007, after previously working with the firm from 2002-2005. Dismuke manages AkinsCrisp's work for the Community and Regional Resilience Institute, a national research and regional resiliency institute managed by the Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Scott also manages AkinsCrisp's grassroots/government advocacy work and assists with the Tennessee Valley Corridor, the Tennessee Valley Nuclear Energy Coalition and several other major accounts.
Previously, Scott was an Account Executive with AkinsCrisp from 2002-2005 and managed the client accounts of the Tennessee Republican Caucus, Business Roundtable and the Oak Ridge National Lab/University of Tennessee's Center for Homeland Security and Counterproliferation.
Before rejoining AkinsCrisp, Scott spent 2 years as the Director of Communications for the New Economy Institute (NEI) where he was responsible for all internal and external communications for the workforce development firm and was the eyes and ears for NEI in Washington DC and Nashville.
Before moving to Tennessee, Scott served as Campaign Manager for U.S. Representative Jo Ann Emerson (R-MO). As campaign manager, Scott was in charge of the day-to-day campaign operations, fundraising and campaign strategy of the seven-term Congresswoman.
In 2000, Scott served as Campaign Manager for Missouri State Representative Bill Foster in his campaign for the Missouri State Senate. Scott managed the campaign as Representative Foster became the first Republican elected in Missouri's 25th Senatorial District since Reconstruction.
Scott has also consulted in numerous Missouri State House and Senate campaigns, and in 2000 helped Republicans gain their first majority in the State Senate in over 50 years.
Scott graduated from Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Missouri with a Bachelor of Science degree in mass communications with an emphasis in public relations and a minor in political science.
Scott and his wife, Dionne, reside in Franklin, Tennessee with their son, Dyson.
